| So I spent this whole weekend at the guys Ultimate Frisbee tournament in Talladega and it was soooo fun!!! I couldn't tell you how excited I am about getting to play!! They played really, really well and I was proud of them for not having a filthy mouth like the rest of the teams! When things got rough they kept a good attitude and just had fun. I spent a total of $18 BOOYA! One night in a hotel, free dinner and breakfast, and two on the road meals... I think I could get used to that! Lol. Oh and the weather was COLD!!!!! 35 and raining with no sun the first day. Yuck. Thankfully, God blessed us with great weather this morning when we woke up and it was about 31 and SUNSHINING outside! Yay! Thanks, Lord!!
I've never been good at any sport or instrument for that matter EVER... I think frisbee is something that I'll finally be able to pick up. I love its intensity and energy.... yeah, just over a plastic disk, go figure.
Next weekend I get to swing dance!! Yayyy!!! And go SCUBA diving in the Florida springs! double YAY!
Peace out- keep it loose, keep it tight. | | |
| Written 2-23-05...
So tomorrow Valentine's day. A day that both the male and female race dread. Girls dread it because it generally means they are going to spend it alone, sulking in their lonelyness of not having a boy to spoil, love, and pamper them. Guys dread it (of course I can only assume) because they are either afraid of asking a girl out, or because they know that the entire day almost any girl they come in contact with is going to be bitter at all males that eat, sleep, or breathe.
Tomorrow is Valentine's day, and I still don't have a guy to spend it with. But, that is okay with me. Really, it is. Every year February 14th roles around, and every year I see it come and go by myself. But am I really by myself?? NO. I want to remind everyone, and especially girls, that just because you don't have a guy, a date, or a rose you are STILL LOVED! You are still special, and you still have people who care about you. Don't get so uptight worrying about if you will spend V-day with or without someone. Why don't you put forth effort into someone other than yourself for a change? Here's this for an idea, make someone else feel loved! Don't sit around and wait for someone to make you feel good, get out and do it yourself! I promise, it'll make you feel wonderful.
Here's some other stuff to consider.. think about how many wonderful friends you have, think about how much your parents love you, your brothers or sisters, your grandparents. Think back on all the funny memories that you've shared with friends throughout the past year. Think back on all the laughter, the tears, the secrets you've shared. With friends like that, you really aren't alone! Valentine's day is only one day out of the year, but friends and family are there every day!
And the main reason why I know it's okay to be "alone" on V-day is because of the Lord. For me, I know that even if I lose all my friends, or if I lose my family, the Lord will always be there for me. He'll never leave me.. His word tells me so... "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Deut. 31:8) I know that God loves me, and has a plan for my life... I don't know about you, but that makes me feel pretty special! And how's this for special.... "The king is enthralled by your beauty" (Ps. 45:11)
So despite the fact that I don't have a guy to share valentine's day with, I know that I will always have someone. Someone who loves me, will never leave me, and who thinks I'm beautiful.
I am so very thankful that Jesus came to die for me.. by dying he took away all my sin and offered me eternal life in Heaven with him if I'd only believe. That right there is true love. An everlasting, outstanding, and overwhelming love that will outdo any guy's love. So like I said before, I'm okay being without a guy on this Valentine's day, and I hope you are too.
Have a blessed day, Julie
